WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 29, 2008) – To kick-off March is Red Cross Month volunteers with the American Red Cross Greater Palm Beach Area Chapter will be marching throughout the City of West Palm Beach to raise awareness of the services provided in the community everyday.
- WHAT: Red Cross volunteers will be marching through West Palm Beach handing out information about the Red Cross, including information on how to enter to win a disaster supply kit.
- WHO: Over 100 American Red Cross Greater Palm Beach Area Chapter Volunteers
- WHY: Raise awareness of the Red Cross within the community. Annually, the American Red Cross Greater Palm Beach Area Chapter assists nearly 220 families who are displaced by house fires. This would not be possible without the dedication of nearly 3,000 volunteers, who contribute 200,000+ hours of service each year. Our chapter also providing emergency assistance to over 180 members of the armed forces; train 15,500+ area residents with lifesaving CPR/First Aid skills; and provide water safety education to over 20,000 community members.
- WHEN: Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11 a.m.
- WHERE: The walk will begin at the American Red Cross Chapter Headquarters on Fern Street, with water stops at the Centennial Square Fountains and City Place Plaza.
