WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 3, 2008) – The American Red Cross Greater Palm Beach Area Chapter is pleased to announce the kick-off of their second annual HEROES for the American Red Cross, grassroots fundraising event.

  • WHAT: HEROES pledge to raise $1,000 for the American Red Cross during the month of March. Individuals or businesses can pledge to be a HERO either by calling 863-763-2488 or visit www.floridaredcrossheroes.org.
  • WHO: HEROES within the community, join together to share ideas regarding how they will raise their $1,000 throughout the month and learn more about the Red Cross within the community. So far, 14 HEROES from the Okeechobee Area have come forward.
  • WHY: Annually, the American Red Cross Greater Palm Beach Area Chapter assists nearly 220 families who are displaced by house fires. This would not be possible without the dedication of nearly 3,000 volunteers, who contribute 200,000+ hours of service each year. Our chapter also providing emergency assistance to over 180 members of the armed forces; train 15,500+ area residents with lifesaving CPR/First Aid skills; and provide water safety education to over 20,000 community members.
