RED CROSS WILL HOST GRAND RE-OPENING FOR SOUTH COUNTY
SERVICE CENTER IN BOCA RATON TONIGHT
WHAT: The Greater Palm Beach Chapter of the American Red Cross will celebrate the re-opening of its Count & Countess de Hoernle Service Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house tonight, Thursday, April 23 at 6 p.m. The newly remodeled Count and Countess de Hoernle Service Center, named for its generous benefactors, provides an array of services including disaster prevention, preparation and response to Palm Beach County residents living south of Hypoluxo Road. Local government officials, business leaders and volunteers will join Larry Casey, CEO of the Greater Palm Beach Area Chapter, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house which will include free food, door prizes, raffles, and a cash bar.
FAST FACTS: The Count & Countess de Hoernle Service Center first opened in 1970 to serve the communities in southern Palm Beach County. Initially, the service center was staffed solely by volunteers. Today, a team of four employed staff members joins approximately 200 south county volunteers to provide programs and services south of Hypoluxo Road including Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. Renovation of the facility was completed in fall 2008 to increase overall office space, training room capacity, and storage and supply staging areas. The South County Service Center also serves as a back-up location for the Chapter’s Disaster Operations Center in times of disaster.
