Event Honored Special Guests Dame Helen Boehm and Bill Ylvisaker and Celebrated Latin-Style with the Tito Puente Jr. Orchestra

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 24, 2008) – The International Polo Club Palm Beach was invigorated by the sounds of mariachis and the Tito Puente Jr. Orchestra on March 9, as more than 400 people enjoyed delicious food, great company and a lavish setting created by Floral Emporium that embodied polo and the American Red Cross—at the 18th Annual Polo Luncheon & Auction.

Guests of honor included Dame Helen Boehm, who was given the honorable Clara Barton Award after a video presentation on her life achievements, Red Cross involvement and polo history was viewed. Bill Ylvisaker was also honored for his vision of starting an equestrian community, which has hosted and enabled the American Red Cross to raise much needed funds for the Greater Palm Beach Area Chapter. The past Red Cross Polo Luncheons were held at the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club which Ylvisaker started and he was instrumental in using the club’s resources for the benefit of the American Red Cross. In addition to the honorees, President Vincente Fox, former president of Mexico, and First Lady, Marta Fox, were seated at the head table. Having flown in specifically for the American Red Cross event, President Fox expressed his feelings on the importance of the organization both in Palm Beach and worldwide.

“It was an honor to join our friends the Puopolos and the Fanjuls at this spectacular Red Cross event,” said Vincente Fox. “Marta and my vision of helping humanity worldwide is in perfect accord with the American Red Cross mission and we fully support the hard work and dedication of all the many supporters both in Palm Beach and around the world.”
